Indian Influences is an international interdisciplinary series of lectures and seminars organised by the Ax:son Johnson Foundation since 2016. The objective is to further the understanding of how India, Indian art, its history of ideas and philosophy in their entirety have influenced the West, not least early modernism in the late-19th and early 20th centuries.
May 2016 21st Century India: Democracy, Growth and the Future of History, a lecture by Professor Sunil Khilnani, Stockholm.
December 2016 Indian Roots of European Modernism – The Visual and Performing Arts, a workshop arranged together with Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi. This meeting explored different historical and philosophical influences from India on Western art and the performing arts.
August 2017 A Mediated Magic – The Indian Presence in European Modernism, a two-day seminar took place in Stockholm and Engelsberg on 27–28 August 2017.
