Eric von Rosen – Nazi and Explorer
Count Eric von Rosen (1879–1948) was known in his time as an explorer and educator. He led expeditions in South America and Africa.
However, in our time, Eric von Rosen is remembered as a Nazi and friend of Hitler. His pronounced sympathies for Nazi Germany and his close relationship with his brother-in-law Hermann Göring are what he is remembered for. Now, for the first time, a comprehensive portrait of Eric von Rosen is being drawn. Here emerges a personality who left his mark in several areas: as an ethnographer, photographer, collector, cultural patron, landowner, and an early advocate for nature conservation. The biography also provides new insights into von Rosen’s connections with Nazi Germany.
The book features a foreword by Svante Nordin, Professor Emeritus of the History of Ideas and Learning at Lund University.
