The Ax:son Johnson Institute for Statecraft and Diplomacy carries out research and education activities in statecraft.
By gaining a deeper understanding of the past, we can enrich our culture, avoid repeating past mistakes and develop society based on a solid foundation. Historical perspectives are as crucial in art and architecture as in economics and security policy, which is reflected in the foundation’s international activities.
One recurring theme in the foundation’s research and education projects is applied history, established through the Engelsberg seminar since 1999. The Ax:son Johnson Institute for Statecraft and Diplomacy carries out research and education activities in statecraft. This includes a unique collaboration between the foundation and four universities: the Stockholm School of Economics, University of Cambridge, King’s College London and Johns Hopkins University. The institute has an extensive doctoral programme, conducts cross-disciplinary post-doctoral research, arranges seminars and gives university courses.
